The new Integrated Transport Hub at Pasir Ris Central will provide seamless inter-modal transfers and enhance accessibility to amenities. The Land Transport Authority aims to progressively grow our Public Transport Network and its integration with employment nodes to serve the residents in the East.
Spanning across Singapore, the Cross Island Line will be about 50km in length and is targeted to complete around 2030.
The Cross Island Line is the eighth MRT line in Singapore, and our longest fully underground line. When fully completed, it will serve existing and future developments in the eastern, western, and north-eastern corridors, linking major hubs such as Jurong Lake District, Punggol Digital District and Changi region.
When completed, the Cross Island Line which starts from Changi, passing through Loyang, Pasir Ris, Hougang, Ang Mo Kio, Bukit Timah, Clementi, West Coast and Jurong, is expected to have a daily ridership of at least 600,000 commuters and increasing to over 1 million in the longer term. This will place the Cross Island Line higher, in terms of capacity and usage, compared to the North East Line.
Constructed in 3 phases, the 29km long Phase 1 of the Cross Island Line 1 (CRL1) will comprise 12 stations from Aviation Park to Bright Hill. This will serve residential and industrial areas such as Loyang, Tampines, Pasir Ris, Defu, Hougang, Serangoon North and Ang Mo Kio. More than 100,000 households will benefit from Cross Island Line 1, and common recreational spaces such as Changi Beach Park and Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park will also become accessible by public transport. Construction for Cross Island Line 1 is expected to commence in 2020 and be completed by 2029.
Residents in the East and Pasir Ris Central Residences can look forward to enjoy faster travel from Changi to Jurong via key transport hubs on the Cross Island Line. It will connect key employment areas such as Changi Logistics Park, Jurong Industrial Estate to residential estates such as Pasir Ris, Ang Mo Kio and Clementi. This makes daily commute between work and home shorter, and free up your time to be spent on what matters to you most.
When operational, it will have the highest number of interchange stations, with almost half the stations on the line being linked to existing rail stations. This means more alternative travel routes to get to your destination.
Pasir Ris MRT Station will be one of the interchange stations on the Cross Island Line linking to the East-West Line. This means residents at the Pasir Ris Central Residences have sheltered access to 2 MRT Lines right at their doorstep, without the need to first travel to an interchange station.
On 10 March 2020, LTA announced 4 more new stations on the Cross Island Line – Punggol Extension. It will comprise four stations – Punggol, Riviera, Elias and Pasir Ris – with three of the stations serving as interchanges with other lines. Pasir Ris will link to the East-West Line as well as the upcoming first phase of the Cross Island Line, while Punggol will link to the North-East Line.
LTA estimates that more than 40,000 households living near the stations will benefit from the new extension. Travel time between Pasir Ris and Punggol will be halved with the construction of the Cross Island Line Punggol Extension linking the two towns by 2031.
